The fundamental laws of motion was discovered by Sir Isaac Newton. The first law, which is known as the law of inertia states that if a net force acting on an object is zero, the motion of the object does not change. Furthermore, according to this law, when the forces acting on an object are balanced the object is either resting or moving at a constant velocity.

Therefore, the net force is 0.
