The answer is love. The need to give and get love can be fulfilled in a private with someone else. Maslow did not compare love with sex, which is a mental need yet he perceived that sex is one method for communicating the affection require. He proposed that the inability to fulfill the requirement for love is a principal reason for passionate maladjustment.
