Granny thinking about being left behind at the altar is the theme that best shows the importance of past experiences in shaping our present no matter how hard we try to bury them in The Jilting of Granny Weatherall.

Granny doesn’t believe she's about to die in the story. She doesn’t want her daughter to find about her past and she also things that her doctor is a brat.
