Does this sentence sound right or should I change it to "I let out a sigh"

Answer:

Use the "I let out a sigh-" one, they both make sense but the first one is more comprehensible to other readers and its simple.

I’d take out the merely... unless your trying to meet a word requirement, merely is the word that isn’t needed at all in the sentence... otherwise it’s amazing.
