For y = 4x + 2x2 – x3, show how to find the value for y, when x = 2. Show your work

To find the value of y in the given equation, substitute the given value of x to the equation.
   
                               y = 4x + 2x² -x³

Substitute 2 for all x's.
  
                               y = 4(2) + 2(2²) - 2³ = 8

Therefore, the value of y is 8.
