The middle colonies are more tolerant to religious beliefs because of their large diversity including Italians, Germans, French, and Swedish. They are also often called the breadbasket colonies because of their large exports of goods like flour to make bread. The reason for their quick growth is due to their fertile lands and large industries. The middle colonies also produced many famous men like Benjamin Franklin, William Floyd, William Penn, and John Witherspoon.
