Each yard is composed of 3 ft. To answer the question above, convert the width in ft to yard by the conversion factor.
                 (10 ft) x (1 yard / 3 ft)  = 3 1/3 yard
The area of the kitchen floor is therefore,
                         (3 1/3 yard) x (4 yard) = 40/3 yard²
The area of the kitchen floor is approximately 13.33 yd².
