Bob has three times as many baseball cards as Bill. Together, they have a total of 68 cards. How many cards does Bob have?

we represent x as the number of baseball cards Bill has. So given the problem above, then the quantity of Bob's baseball cards is 3x. The total is equal to 68. Then, the equation is x + 3x = 68; This is equal to 4x = 68. Then x is equal to 17 cards, that is Bill's number. Then  Bob's cards is equal to 51 cards
