q = 0.5

5q - 21/14 = 1

First add 21/14 to both sides to get:

5q = 1 21/14

Simplify the right side:

21/14 = 3/2 = 1 1/2

Now you have 5q = 2 1/2

Divide both sides by 5:

q = 1/2
