Simplify first using the inverse of subtraction or addition. Simplify further by multiplication or division. you will multiply only if you have a variable in a fraction such as 1/a just multiply by 1. You divide to get a variable by itself such as 2a you divide by 2 to get a by itself. Hope this helps...
