The equation you want to use is

x = (-b +/- sqrt( b^2 - 4ac))/2a

So, ax^2 + bx + c = 0

x = (-14 +/- sqrt((14^2) - 4(12)(0)))/2(12)

x = (-14 +/- sqrt((196 - 0)))/24

x = (-14 +/- sqrt(196))/24

x = -14/24 +/- (sqrt(196)/24)

x = -14/24 +/- 14/24
