The herbivorous heterotrophs rely on autotrophs, such as plants.
These autotrophs rely on the sun for energy.
Therefore, all life forms rely on the sun's energy for sustenance; their dependence may be direct as in the case of autotrophs or indirect as in the case of heterotrophs.
