The USA’s support could not have helped the French significantly, because the military power of the USA immediately after independence was negligible in global terms. Remember, at that time Britain still had a global empire - the size of the British army worldwide outnumbered the population of the USA. The USA did not have military forces to spare that it could offer to aid France.
