Radiation from the Sun reaches the Earth…the Earth absorbs the solar radiation and warms the atmosphere from below.  The Sun is still very low in the sky, and supplies very little radiation to warm our part of the planet.

The Sun is the “engine” that runs our weather.  Radiation from the Sun reaches the Earth…the Earth absorbs the solar radiation and warms the atmosphere from below.  January is typically the coldest month of the year.
