The y-component of the weight of a 5.00 kg crate that is on a 21.0° hill is 45.57 N

W = m g

W = Weight

m = Mass

g = Acceleration due to gravity

m = 5 kg

g = 9.8 m / s²

W = 5 * 9.8

W = 49 N

Resolving W into its y-component,

θ = 21°

cos θ = Wy / W

Wy = 49 * cos 21°

Wy = 49 * 0.93

Wy = 45.57 N

Therefore, the y-component of the weight is 45.57 N
