we can start off by eliminating a +2y and a -2y as that equals 0.
3x+4x=7x
17+4=21
we are left with 7x=21
divide by 7 on both sides and you'll get an x value of 3.
now you plug the 3 in as x to one of the original equations to find the value of y, since this is an ordered pair.
3(3)+2y=17
9+2y=17
2y=17-9
2y=8
y=4

so the final solution as a point would be:
( 3,4 )

or x=3, y=4

hope this helped! xx
