to vertically shrink a function by a factor of c, multiply the whole function by c

f(x) vertically shrunk by a factor of c would be cf(x)

so f(x)=-3|x-4| vertically shrunk by a factor of 1/2 would be [tex]f(x)=(\frac{-3}{2})|x-4|[/tex]
