The summation of the lengths of Ef and FG would give us the length of EG.
This means that:
EF + FG = EG
4x - 16 + 3x - 6 = 27
7x = 27 + 16 + 6
7x = 49
x = 49/7 = 7

Therefore:
EF = 4(7) - 16 = 12 unit length
FG = 3(7) - 6 = 15 unit length
