Yes. Since is is in negatives, -280 ft is above the ground, if you're starting at the ground. -253 feet is closer it the ground, therefore is is deeper.

No, -253 is NOT deeper then -280 cause since they r both negative numbers, the biggest negative number would b deeper. Think of it this way, if you gave the absolute value of -253 it would be 253. Do it with -280 it is 280. 253<280
