Who was the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey? What were these works about?

Homer was the author of the iliad and the Odyssey. The Iliad was about the Trojan War. And the Odyssey was about a man named Odysseus the ruler of Ithica. He goes to fight in the the Trojan war and then says he conquered the Trojans by himself and then the gods got mad and the story is about his long story of his way home.
